A Modest Capsule Wardrobe (at least 15 looks!)

With fashion, my styling approach is that less is more, especially as minimalism has become very trendy for its simple aesthetic and environmental friendliness. If you’re looking to make the most out of a small wardrobe, you may want to downsize to a capsule wardrobe.

What is a capsule wardrobe?

Believe it or not, you can probably fully style daytime, nighttime, occasion, and casual looks with just a few favorite pieces from your wardrobe. It doesn’t take buying the whole store to achieve versatility. A capsule wardrobe is just that - a few versatile pieces that you can mix and match into more outfits than you thought possible.

How do I create a capsule wardrobe?

I did 2 very simple things to select a capsule wardrobe using items I already had: 1) I chose a pieces along a color palette, and 2) I chose no-fuss pieces that worked with my style of the moment, which, as the weather cools is currently ‘Winter Chic’ (layers, sweaters, long coats, and boots). A cohesive color palette means that I can easily mix and match these pieces to create a new outfit, and working with a style means that my outfit always will turn out the way I want it. Minor changes can take you from a quick grocery store run, to a (COVID-friendly) night out .
