Having a baby is such a special experience and being able to feel comfortable in what you are wearing during the process is critical. One of the concerns I had going into the delivery of the my third daughter was how comfortable I would be in the hospital’s standard gown. I also wanted to wear something to commemorate the arrival of my third baby that made me feel special. As a hijabi, sometimes finding modest clothes for hospital stays is very difficult, and can sometimes be so dysfunctional that we discard the hijab completely while at the hospital for medical purposes.

1) Front Zippers:
The Nadia gown is full coverage, but has various design features that allow for easy access for medical staff as well as the mother herself. The gown has two zippers in the front that are great for easy nursing access and to place monitors on the belly while laboring.
2) Fully-buttoned Sleeves:
There are also buttons that line the sleeves from shoulder to write to give access to IVs. I also found it useful to be able to open the shoulder to nurse and to make wudu for prayers prior to having the baby.
3) Back Zippers
The back the gown also has two zippers, and gives full access if you’ve elected to have an epidural.
4) Open bottom with ties
The gown opens at the bottom in a wrap style and fully opens from the waist down if needed. It also closes with ties so you can wear it outside without it flying open, or style with leggings or a skirt.
5) Matching Hijab
Lila also designed a matching hijab for the Nadia gown, so this accommodates hijab-wearing women, as well as women who don’t practice hijab, but want to remain covered It even has a flap on the hijab that you can pull up to put over your nose and mouth for a niqab or a mask.
