Exfoliate with Enzymes! 4-week Review of Fleur de Fozz + Owner interview

Does anyone else out there feel completely overwhelmed by skincare? There are a million options for each skin issue, and as someone who has thankfully never dealt with any extreme problems with my skin, I have consciously avoided trying to understand skincare properly and establish a regimen for myself. I figure, when I have a problem, I’ll solve it! And until then, I’ll survive on coconut oil, a healthy diet, hydration, and a dose of SPF.

But as age, I realize that skincare is becoming more and more instrumental to maintaining the quality of my skin. I have alot of sunspots, and I develop a dull affect to my skin after a while of ignoring it. And after having my second child, I really needed a skin intervention and ordered a really expensive regimen. It worked, but it was not something I could maintain due to the cost. So, when I saw that Fleur de Fozz is a skin polisher, I figured it was just what I needed to start my skincare journey and bring back the glow.

The Interview

I asked the owner and Fleur de Fozz developer, Halah Nachawati, a few questions to get me started, here’s what she said:

Q: Is Fleur de Fozz your original skincare formula?

A: Yes it is my own formula .

Q: How did you develop your formula? Do you have skincare expertise?

A: I’m a nurse by profession. After trying multiple facials with no results, I teamed up with a friend who is a makeup artist/skin care specialist who has worked for Estée Lauder and Christian Dior. After lots of trials and errors, we came up with this formula.

Q: What type of skin is Fleur de Fozz suitable for?

A: All skin types. For dry skin, we have day/night moisturizers as well as a red tea serum which add emollience to the skin.

Q: How often would you recommend using this product?

A: Twice a week only because it’s a deep cleanser. No need to use it more than that.

Q: Is it considered a natural, clean product? Organic? Cruelly free? Does it have any harsh chemicals, dyes, or perfumes?

A: Yes, natural, organic, halal, cruelty free. No harsh chemicals, dyes, or perfumes. Color comes from B12 to give a pink color and fragrance from rose water

Q: Any other useful information you can provide to determine if Fleur de Fozz is the right fit for a customer?

A: As natural as we have made it, some ppl may be sensitive to natural ingredients so we recommend testing on back of hand before using it.

The Skin Test

In typical CMB fashion, I filmed an unboxing video upon receiving the product. I immediately performed the skin test on the back of my hand as well. I also researched the ingredients in the Think Dirty app, and reported my findings in the video. To watch, click below!

4-week Results

Week 2 results - dead skin beads I was able to wash away!

Week 2 results - dead skin beads I was able to wash away!

Week 1 (1x application)- Long story short, no effect occurred. I used a thin layer all over my clean face as directed and waited for 1 minute. As I rubbed, no beads of dead skin formed. I figured, instead of writing the product off, I would try the next time with more product and a bit more time than 1 minute

Week 2 (2x per week) - Results! I used double the amount that I initially used and left it on for 2 minutes to see if effects would change. The photo below shows my cheek with dead skin gathering on the surface. Felt so good to wash that way! At the time, I was unaware, but the owner of Fleur de Fozz distinctly does NOT recommend doubling up on the time the product is left on the skin for fear of burning certain skin types! So, follow directions as stated on the bottle!

On the second time that week (3 days later), no beading occured. I figured it was because my skin was already exfoliated with the product 3 days before, and it did not have any buildup. I decided to go back to 1x per week for Weeks 3 and 4 to give enough time for buildup

Weeks 3 and 4 (1x per week) - No results. Skin fluctuates - maybe in Week 2 my skin had alot of dead skin cells due to other behaviors I was not keeping track of that effect the amount of dead skin, and then in Weeks 3 and 4, it just simply didn’t occur. I wouldn’t attribute it to the inefficacy of the product, but rather to the needs of my skin. But even though dead skin cells did not pool on my skin surface, the product also deep cleans and stimulates collagen production, so it’s worth keeping a 2x per week regimen for these other results as well!

Complete before and after - Since the product’s effects on my skin were subtle in a 4-week period, the before and after looked exactly the same. I would love to see if there is a difference in 6 months to a year of use, to see if there are any long-term benefits.

Overall, I really enjoyed the experience of creating this review. It was a gentle product, which is what I think my skin needs. Sometimes, the subtleties are worth documenting as well, and not just the dramatic changes. Since it is a mild product, I would recommend it for someone like myself who does not suffer from major skincare issues, and just wants something to maintain, or see effects over a long term. I would be interested to see how the product fares on acne-prone skin or oily skin as well!

Love,
